Without the desire to learn and make an effort to understand and read scientific explanations and articles you cannot possibly arrive at the best and healthiest choice conclusion for your family.
So, start reading, reading, reading, and doing some more reading– start here
Hmmmm, should we be Vegan? Paleo? No grain but dairy? Processed foodies? Fast foodies?
If you are now living and eating according to the way you grew up, it is time to STOP, really STOP and reconsider it.
I believe that every parent should learn to read the scientific research behind a certain topic. This is THE only way for you to trust your own well informed decisions.
“But my doctor… etc, etc, etc.” Listen, but don’t trust your doctor blindly. Think about “According to the research and results out there, does what this doctor says make sense?”
As I just wrote on Tea With Mommy’s FACEBOOK page:
There are several different choices:
1. You don’t want to know about the harm something causes your health because your whole entire life is organized around that something. So you ignore the facts and keep on doing what you’re doing. You just don’t want to go there. So, you just continue causing yourself harm.
2. You do know about the harm something causes your health, you have read about it extensively, but you just don’t feel like taking the steps to change it because it will require you to re-organize your whole life. So, you just continue causing yourself harm.
3. You know about the harm something causes your health, and you are willing to open your mind and do the work and research necessary today, so that when tomorrow comes your entire family will be SIGNIFICANTLY healthier and have the chance to live a much longer life.
After posting about eating a “no grain” diet, many parents tell me: “But Johnny loves his pizza.”
Well, I think it is time to explain to Johnny that long term health, happiness, and long life are better than eating pizza.
